i like pink. too bad for you.

i changed my blog and made it pink pink pink. i love love love it.

graduation, pardon me, convocation day came and went, and i have a beautiful degree hanging up on my mom's kitchen wall right now, where i want it to stay forever. well until i move out (ha ha ha................ha). it looks so lovely there where everyone can see! i'm so proud of me, but really guys, anyone can go to university and get a degree. half the time i felt like i was in high school again. sitting in class isn't hard, and doing the work isn't really that hard either. exams are tricky but seriously, anyone can do it if they wanted to. that i am convinced of. four years seems like a big commitment but it goes SO FAST!

so i went to TCU place on wednesday and you have to line up in your respective degree, so they have 3 year B.A., 4 year B.A., Honours B.A.'s, etc, etc. well the one girl who all through uni thought i was like, the biggest slacker and always made comments like "kristin, do you STILL not have your essay in yet? oh my kristin!" and then she would laugh sympathetically for me. and roll her eyes. for the last four freaking years. anyway i'm talking to my friends in the honours line up and she actually says to me, "kristin, are you in the right line up?" um, yes.... "you got an honours degree?" UH YES!!!! SHE of course, got a High Honours degree, but screw that, i was in the right line.

when i actually walked across the stage, the lady called me "Kirsten" which angers me and i grimaced in fury in front of 5000 people. then another lady put my sash thingy over my head while some important guy who was too important to get up from his fancy chair told me congratulations and shook my hand. then i walked over to prez peter who also shook my hand and gave me my actual degree. THEN he asked me what i was planning to do with it. WELL. nobody warned me to have something prepared when i spoke to mr. important! i was like, uhhh, ummm, ah, uhmmmm and like, you only have 5 seconds before the next person was coming so how could i possibly sum up my potential-but so far nonexistent-plans to the most important man in saskatoon besides the mayor? oh Pete. i'm sorry for embarrassing myself in front of you. i shoulda told him i want to come and work for him. i also forgot to ask him for a tour of his gorgeous house. i kind of forget everything including my name. i mumbled something about staying in the province and he looked at me with pity on my sad life. hehehe.

after we took pictures. then we went to earls for some lunch (yum chicken santa fe salad) and afterwards went to costco. i bought books. i'm in textbook buying denial, so lately i have bought four books - Nutrition for Life, Cocktails 101 (heh), Blink, and one novel, The Last Summer (of you and me). I read my novel in 2 days. i hate that i read and can't stop and finish books in a day or two. grrr me! blink is supposed to be excellent, it has come highly recommended by many people. book review soon to come.

so anyways i am finally done university and likely the content of this blog will change as i no longer have classes or profs or papers to complain about... maybe i need a whole new blog start... hence the change of the look... but possible brand new blog to come...

love to all.

bloggers bloc?

i don't know what is the deal but i have not felt like blogging in forever! it's the weirdest thing... i'm sure it'll come back to me. i don't think it's cuz of facebook even though i spend plenty of time on there! but you see, at work i need something to fill my time when there's no work to do, and facebook has been the perfect remedy! it's harder to blog at work cuz i get interrupted 50 times. anyways.

so let's talk my car. so far, so perfect. it's so so so nice, i love everything about it! and i love throwing all my cd's and shoes in there. my neighbor saw me changing my shoes one morning and he asked me if i keep a whole closet in there, and truthfully i sort of do :) the satellite radio is pretty fun too except i can never stay on one station for long and i drive myself crazy flipping through 200 channels. i can't wait to wash my car. in fact i purposely got it all muddy this afternoon after the tiny torrential rain passed so that i can wash it super good tomorrow. indeed!

this weekend was so nice. i went fishing out at blackstrap for the day and the weather was so amazing and hot. i felt sooooooo amazingly relaxed and we had such good alone time together. as many of you know, jeff has moved to humboldt. he and 3 other guys bought into a farm equipment business, and there are three stores they own. one is in PA, one in kinistino, and then the one in humboldt. so yes, he's moved there and so far things are going really good for him. humboldt is actually a beautiful little city (it's considered the smallest city in saskatchewan, with 5000 people and growing fast). it's got all the fast food joints and a walmart is coming. so it's not so small town, and it's only an hour away. so yes, for the time being, i am here and he is there. and things are good.

so anyway back to my weekend, you guys i actually really like fishing! i HATE the actual slimy stinky fish, but when you catch one it's sooooooooo exciting and really really fun! i'm quite funny fishing actually, cuz i'm not the conventional, serious fisher... nope i mostly suntan, read, do my sudoku's. and only start fishing once someone else has caught one so that i can catch up. i have a new, upgraded, REAL fishing rod now. after last year's humongo fish i caught, i have graduated to real fishing rod status. so proud. anyway i pretty much freak out whenever a fish is being caught cuz i think it's so disgusting. but it's fun. and i didn't even burn cuz i wore sunscreen all day long. i hope my tan lasts longer than a day. too bad i have to sit indoors from 8:30 to 5 all week long. i HATE THAT.

k what else, what else. my graduation is on wednesday. i'll have to get a pic or two in my grad gown and cap. maybe after that i'll actually feel like i've accomplished something major. that's pretty much the reason i'm going. just to wear the crap, walk across the stage, shake peter's hand (i think i'm gonna ask him for a tour of his gorgeous house) and get that degree. perhaps then it will sink in that i'm not going back in september and that all that work i did the last four years is all summed up in my little piece of paper.
Kristin A Eagle. Bachelor of Arts, Honours. International Studies.
congratulations, self!

so me, jeff, lynnel and my parents went to the new greek restaurant on 3rd ave, katouki tavern i think it's called. it was AMAZING! a bit pricey but QUITE the experience. first off, it's beautiful in there. later on they have belly dancers come through the restaurant and go to each table and try to get you to dance with them! it's super funny. and when you leave you get to smash plates! how great is that? oh i loved smashing plates. it's like therapy! jeff let me smash his plate so i got to do it twice, how nice of him! lynnel took pictures so hopefully one day she'll upload them. quite the experience, i highly recommend it. and dessert was the most delicious dessert i have ever ever had.

k well i am done blogging now. so sorry i have been so non-existent. i guess i am just a little bit boring lately but yes, i'm sure it'll come back to me...

bye now.

for me? why yes!

2007 Chevy Cobalt LTZ Coupe - ALL MINE!

I decided that this post needed some text to this post, so I'm sharing with you my car experience. Now that I am full time and considered permanent at my job (as opposed to student working whatever hours I want!), have a guaranteed income and some stability, it is time to get myself a vehicle. I blew the head gasket in my little sunbird in December and have been relying on the bus, my family, Jeff, friends ('specially Lynnel and Angela!) and a couple people from work here, to get around and it has been verrrrrrrry inconvenient for me and probably for them as well! If you have had the "opportunity" to give me a ride (am I 16? yes i think so), well then I thank you!!!

So I took Friday off (my first PAID holiday day EVER = big deal), and dragged my dad and Jeff all around the city with me. We started off looking at Sherwood Chev and was this close to buying a brand new Aveo... but I just couldn't buy the first car I looked at, plus I wanted to check out the Yaris and the G5. So went to Toyota, ended up test driving a Corolla but guess what guys, I'm not a mom. And I don't need a mom car. The G5 was next, followed by the upgraded G6, both hot hot cars. The G6 was a bit big for me and the G5 was priced right. This close once again.

Jeff from Chev called wanting to know if we were coming back for the Aveo. Boyfriend Jeff tells Chev Jeff that I loved the G5 and that we were getting a really good deal there. Chev Jeff tells BF Jeff that if I would come test drive a Cobalt (the Chev equivalent of the Pontiac G5) that they would give me "a smokin deal" that I couldn't turn down.

Indeed, Chev Jeff was not kidding around! I ended up getting the Cobalt for the same monthly payment as what they had offered me the Aveo for and it's a much cooler car. BF Jeff was amazing at working the price down, and I was sooooo happy to have him and my dad helping me! They were the ones who convinced me to get a two door! They say I have lots of time for practical four doors in the future :) Dad says I'm too cool for a four door right now. haha. thanks dad! I also got a graduate rebate, where Chev pays my first two payments (sooooo great!) AND a $1000 "loyalty" rebate because my dad has the astro van registered in his name! We thought it was hilarious that the 1994 van qualified and not the newer Grand Am, but whatever, I got $1000 bucks off!

So here's the specs for anyone who might care. It's a 2 door, white 2007 Cobalt LTZ with an upgraded stereo (hello it has a 10" sub woofer, and 7 speakers which I think is hilarious! Fergie is going to be working hard!), it has XM satellite radio built into the system, a remote start (YESSSSSSSS BABY!) that detects the temperature and turns the heat/air conditioning on accordingly, and it's an automatic which I wanted. Yes I can drive a standard and yes it may be a bit cooler but I just wasn't in the mood for all that work anymore. It has fog lights, ABS brakes and upgraded wheels which BF Jeff was adamant about getting b/c he is moving (saving for another post) and I will be doing much more highway driving. The only thing I wanted that I didn't get was a sunroof which added another $15/month to my payment and I just decided against it. I told myself I can either have the remote start or the sunroof and I definitely think I'll be happier with a warm car in -40 degree weather. The only thing the Aveo offered that I wanted was an Ipod but I figured I may as well buy myself one if I really wanted it that bad. I don't think I'll need it with all my satellite radio options though! I also get a 5 year/160,000 km powertrain warranty which is AWESOME!

So they are bringing it in for me from who knows where, and I don't get it till Wednesday or Thursday. Until then, I dream about it! And look at it. I am so excited!

Let's take a look from the back, shall we?! Pretend it's white:

oh hi! you're freaking hot!

okay bu bye.

i'm a university graduate! wahhhoooooooo! i convocate on june 6th, you're all invited!

for now, i'm still working at BX and i finally have benefits and a better salary and paid holidays and all that jazz. like real people.

now it's time for me to buy a fabulous car! i am going to the bank next week to be pre-approved and then i'm offfffff baby to the dealerships. call me crazy, or just 'mom', but i want a four door automatic... i'm so done with 2 doors and stick shifts. give me something i can eat a freaking sandwhich with while i drive and let people in the backseat without having to crawl all over the seats. thanks. i actually like jenna's ford focus so much and i might get one of those, also looking at a toyota yaris and a honda civic. all i really want is air conditioning and a cd player. it's really that simple!

i'm excited. i can't wait to have freedom again. i can't wait to go home for lunch sometimes. i can't wait to go to jenna's new house for lunch to see my favorite kids in the world. and go to the mall whenever i want. yesssssssssssssss. i've been such a loser since january. i can't wait to lose my loserness. it's gonna be great.

that's all i gots to say right now.

ta freaking da

i watch the office, and i found it particularly funny last night. thats where my title comes from. i also enjoyed, "dwight, you ignorant slut" and it was so darn funny that they said it twice for my viewing pleasure. hilarious! so if i ever say that to you, and insert your name in for dwight, do not be offended. just laugh, because i am sure that i will be laughing too.

it's friday friends! and its payday. blessed payday.

it's also friday the 13th. spooky. the first spooky thing that happened to me this morning was that i dropped my banana on the ground. what does this mean? what are the cosmos trying to tell me? i do wonder.

the second spooky event - the police called me. then they sent their best looking officer to come to my office to have me sign something. hot damn. haha. i've always wanted to say that and i felt that was a good place for it.

that's it for spooky events thus far. do tell me your friday the 13th story if you do have one.

last night i hosted the first bbq of the year! jeff called me and told me he wanted to bbq for supper and so we went and got a couple terriaki steaks. we had a couple extra, so i promply called my lovely dating friends, lynnel and denver, and we supped together. we had steaks, a huge garden salad, a vegetable melody, potato salad and fresh buns. lynnel and denny brought a homemade strawberry-rhubarb pie (technically homemade but purchased from mystic java) and though we didn't let it settle long enough after coming out of the oven, it was outstanding. NOW i know why you always see pictures of pies sitting on the counter all steamy and delicious looking. they need a few minutes to settle so they aren't runny! ah ha! that makes so much sense. but it didn't matter what it looked like. it still tastes the same. so we had a good night, watched some hockey (go flames, right lynnel?!) and some other thurs night tv shows, i.e. the office, 30 rock and my name is earl. good friends, good times.

horray horrah for 21 degrees tomorrow!

that's all for now!

6 weird things

Gina has tagged me

"Here are the rules: Each player of this game starts with the 'six weird things about me' blog post. People who get tagged need to write their own six weird things post and state the rules clearly. At the end of the post, tag six more people and don’t forget to leave a comment on their blog to tell them they have been tagged and tell them to read your blog."

1. i rarely finish all the food off my plate. there is ALWAYS a bit left, sometimes just a bite or two. i guess my mother never implemented the "you have to eat everything off your plate" rule. that's impolite weird.

2. i am slightly afraid in movie theatres when all the lights go out. i always think someone is gonna hijack the place and kill us all in the dark. seriously. the thought passes quickly but i almost always think it! that's morbid weird.

3. i constantly buy scrapbooking stuff. i never scrapbook except for ONE page i did in September. i literally have hundreds of dollars worth of paper, stickers, books, a mega piece of freaking LUGGAGE to haul my stuff around, etc., etc. but i can't stop buying the stuff for it. just today i bought 4 packages of "spring" stickers. looooooooser weird.

4. since grade 5, i have washed my face EVERY morning and EVERY night with the exception of maybe 5 times (due to camping and all-nighters). i am compulsively disordor-ly obssessedly weird with washing my face.

5. whenever i am introducing someone i always momentarily blank on the name of who i'm introducting and then i freak that i got the name wrong. i do this all the time, unless i know you really well. i don't think i've ever gotten a name wrong, so i don't really know where this fear comes from.

6. i have one white eyelash. freaky weird.

i tag... YOU (if you haven't already done it. i seem to be the last!)

The Junos....

rocked.

what you saw on television does not compare to what was seen/felt/experienced live. the performances were so so so good. nelly furtado and dallas green - amazzzzzing.

will tell all tomorrow........

in meantime, you can see all my photos from my whole weekend at:

http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=1646&l=e3d1b&id=514459720

you don't need a facebook account to see them. i'm tired.

Juno Fever - Friday

i've got juno fever and i don't know how this happened. i never thought i'd be one to be star struck but i AM! it's so fun. i went out with girls from work tonight and we had a blast. we only saw two (recognizable) people - farley flex and sass jordan. i have a hilarious video to upload of when we first saw farley flex. we were acting like high school girls. hilarious. it's so darn dark in the room though, you can't even see it's him. oh well, i'll post the picture too.

we started the night off at the new restaraunt, The Ivy. very lovely place. no famous stars. good martinis.

off to Aroma, in the Radison hotel where nelly is staying. awesome view of every person walking in. tons of stars, had no idea who any of them were. rock bands. we could tell because they were all super hip and uber cool, beyond what saskatoon produces for cool. and kept shaking important people's hands. and they pulled up in limos. that's the defining factor.

then... it was Farley Flex. THEN, it was Sass Jordan. since Nelly Furtado wasn't showing up, they were the next best thing. i finally got the nerve to ask for a group photo (i was patient and kind, and waited until after they ordered their food... they were sitting right next to us). and they were super cool about it and made jokes. much fun. i'll post a couple pix.

then a guy next to our table bought all us girls a round of martinis. yummy.

that's all for now. i'll tune you in for tomorrow's sightings. i'm so proud of saskatoon (except for Earls who is open for VIPs and stars ONLY. snobs).

Friday night photos - Junos

Me (slightly afraid to get too close to Sass), Amy, Michelle, Terri, Angela
and of course our stars, Sass Jordan and Flex Farley. Sass and I are practically sisters. hahaha

Amy and I, practicing our red carpet walk. we wear our sunglasses at night... HOT!!!

A most beautiful Juno Ice Sculpture!
Note the limo. Not a huge sight for Saskatoon.

Us ladies and a random guy, in front of the most beautiful sculpture!

As close as we ever got to the promiscuos girl herself, Nelly Furrrrrrrtado.

Amy and I again, being foolish schoolgirls.

My beauty friend Angela, and I! At The Ivy.

Lovely ladies, Kristin and Michelle. Delightful!

"i'll be back"

yes i know, i haven't blogged in a week! how unlike me.

i've been really busy with school and it's been intense. but guess what friends, i only have 2 more weeks (and 3 papers and 3 exams) to go!

speaking of "i'll be back" did you know that arnold schwarzenegger is the only governor that opts out of a salary? i guess he thinks he made enough with the Terminator movies. its something like $250,000 a year. to my friend arnie, that's just petty cash.

i'd be glad to take it off his hands, but i guess The Governator doesn't know about little me, over here in saaaask-atch-a-wann.

i get to go to the Junos on Sunday night! i have some feelings of excitement about this. i don't know what to wear. oh nelly (furtado)! i am not going to that fanfare thing i won. i'm not interested in meeting absolutely NOBODY cool. and stand in line for their autographs? i'm not really that kind of girl. artists like Alexisonfire, Billy Talent, Eva Avila, Melissa O'Neil, Hedley (hello, Canadian Idol overload?), Stabilo, Three Days Grace, Tomi Swick, George (who the mother is george?)...look it up, here. No big artist will be at fanfare. just the actual show. The Junos are a huge event for this city. i think the city will be hip-hopping this weekend. hopefully i'll go to a few venues to see some live performances. maybe i'll see someone cool around our promiscuous town.

please note i've added a very cool feature, my facebook "badge." you can flip through some pictures by pressing "next". you don't need a facebook account to do this.

the other badge, "GlobalVoices" has awesome blogs from around the world, mostly the south (aka the developing world) and its super interesting with a ton of topics, many written by regular people. it's cool because good development really stresses giving a voice of the poor, rather than us western big wigs coming in and trying to fix things our way. it doesn't work.

another blog of note (link is under Amuse Me): the world bank has a blog called "Poverty and Growth" that i enjoy. poverty and development is my major at uni, and though i don't talk about it too much, i do love this subject. please note i do not agree with MANY of the actions the world bank & imf -they are the big wigs i was just talking about - have taken, yet this site has some great info and it is quite interesting.

i must go now. i have a 12 page paper that was due LAST tuesday that i must hand in tomorrow, and i am currently on page 19 with no intro and no conclusion. though this may sound like a good thing, it's deceivingly bad. very bad and very stressful.

love from, tired, frustrated, but can see the end of a long four years,
me.

p.s. please, in your comments, don't ask me what i'm going to do after i graduate. the thought stresses me out beyond belief. thanks. i'll blog about it when i know :)

Mac or Dell?

i'm buying myself a laptop as a grad gift to myself. i have only needed one for 4 years. i've got my lovely IBM but i find PCs to be rather anti-mobile. i just can't picture myself lugging my computer to night class each week. not that i will have night class anymore starting in THREE WEEKS! woot woot! anyway, still want a laptop and looking for some advice/opinions:

mac or dell? dell or mac?

hi kristin, i am cute little Apple iBook! look how sweet i would look at your desk. i'm so pretty and girly and have many creative options. i love to do fun things with your photos, videos, and webpages. i am a perfect companion to a young hot chick like yourself on the go as you enter a new career. i'm as clean as they come - never a virus for me! buy me because you and i are meant to be together! never mind that i cost so much! its okay. i'm cute. cute cute cute.

hi apple ibook, you look like so much fun i could eat you right up. HOT. HOT. HOT. (also nevermind that i don't exactly have a new career. yet.) i must decide if i only like you for your looks. are you as beautiful on the inside as you are on the outside?
are you truly worth the extra effort i must put into paying for you? ibook. i think you are to me like izzie is to george. beautiful on the outside. stacked. a supermodel. my best friend. but probably not right for me???

hi kristin i am Inspiration 6400 dual core from Dell. you will love how much hardrive and memory i have for half the price of snobby ibook up there. i am fast, efficient and come with many free features. i am definitely the one for you. just think how professional you will look toting hot little silver me around. and guess what, i am just as skinny as snobbook above - i only weigh 6 lbs. furthermore, "inspiration" is even a better name than "ibook" - it speaks of your future, bright and successful, with me by your side.

hi inspiration 6400, i like you too. you're cheaper and somewhat cute. you have more memory and hardrive and its not that you're ugly. you simply don't have the same "presence" that ibook gives off. i am probably going to buy you, just don't be too jealous of my love affair with apple ibook. i love you for your beautiful inside, as the princess loved the frog. perhaps we just need a chance to get to know each other better.

any opinions (and not about me going to the crazy people place)???

this is the kind of thing i do when i have 2 essays due tomorrow and thus far i have 4 pages. but i always pull through! and with honors at that!

BU-BYE FRIENDS!

p.s. get this, i just booked my wisdom teeth pulling day for May 15, 2008! what is THAT? i think i should set an alarm on my cell phone in case i forget!

p.p.s. IBM COMPUTER FOR SALE..... i'll maybe post an "ad" later on sometime.

reservations under "hotties"

so i was trying to make this look fun, you know, some pics to the left, some center, some to the right.... it totally didn't work. the funness shines through anyway.
girls night = total success.
there was myself, Lynnel, Jenna + baby Haylie, Kerri, Sarah, Kerilyn + baby Akele, Lilian, Cory + baby Tayah, Laura, Michelle, Danielle, Adrienne, Katie, Coralie, Colette, and Sarah Jane. We went to Alexanders, a perfect place for the start of girls night.
jeff and i actually went there for supper at 6 and i had the most delicious food EVER (my new fav restaraunt, how did i not know how good the food was there???). we were joined by a very creepy man who wouldn't leave us alone but we had a good laugh over it anyway. jeff was outta there as soon as the first girl arrived :)
the kitchen guys called us "the hot table". that was pretty obvious. just check out our hottness:

(Lynnel did so good. she only texted her new boyfriend ONCE! i was so proud.)

musings of a girl without a car

ah, yes so about 15 minutes ago it happened. i have been waiting all winter long for this event. i simply knew it would come at any moment and the suspense was killing me as i waited patiently for the time to come. my friends.

i fell on the ice. flat on my ass.

this event happens once per winter and this year it waited until the middle of MARCH! ohhhhh the irony. a week before the official first day of spring. and what a tease as the last few days have been almost spring-like, until the most brutal day of yesterday where all the lovely mushy, muddy, slushy streets and sidewalks turned into the ice that nearly killed me.

anyway i'm fine. except i kind hurt all over, especially on the right side where i kinda landed funny on my arm and almost froze my hand off in the snow.

i'm just glad it finally happened so i don't have to keep wondering when it would.

this event may have bypassed me if i hadn't been taking the 3 minute walk from the bus stop to my house. yes, i'm still taking the bus. i have many musings about my bus ride today. my mind was working overload as i took #50 today, i feel i could almost write a book, just my little sister, Jenna did. in fact she sent her manuscript off to the a publisher today! i am so proud. everyone buy her book when it gets published!!! i thought i'd throw that in there. anyways, so i have a few thoughts for bus riders.

the first thing you must decide after boarding the bus is where to sit. i recommend you move to the back to the bus (remember that awesome old outkast song?). why the back? no not because that is where people play truth or dare. although that reminds me of my first kiss.... its true. but no, go to the back because then when the old people board, you don't have to give up your seat to them. brilliant! i commend the lovely young people who so willingly offer their seat to the weak and feeble, i just don't want it to be me giving up my comfy seat.

even after taking the bus a total of 12 times since January (approx one trip per week) i worry that the driver will suddenly change the route and i will have to walk from one side of the city to the next. yet, this does not seem to happen. i need to settle my little brain down.

do not settle the brain too much down however. you see, i tried to have a little nap on the bus but my head kept brushing past the little wire you pull to get the next stop. once i actually did pull it with my head brushing against the window, and i was like oh my, how embarrassing, he is going to stop and nobody is going to get out. it turned out fine as someone else luckily had the same stop as "i" did. phew, everyone is fine.

it can be very difficult being a bus rider. for instance, i witnessed a young man running to catch the bus and the driver did not see him and mindlessly drove along. i didn't want to be the one to stop the driver for that would entail being quite disruptive, a big social no-no. i always try to be socially conscious. other distresses include sitting with someone. how is one to know when the person on the inside wants out? oh the terrible things a bus rider must face! or the distress of the young lady when the driver did not see she was standing at the door to get out and almost drove away without letting her off! oh, how happy i was not to be in her most difficult situation!

finally, my last dilemma. most of the bus stops are rather far and few between. but for some reason on my street there are two stops right after each other, about a block between them. i always feel rather ridiculous when someone gets off at the first stop and then as soon as the bus starts up again, i press the wire to be dropped off 10 seconds later. however i do it anyway. you know why? because its not MY fault someone put two stops so close to each other! it saves me at least 3 minutes in my walk. ha. so there. i always feel rather defiant when i do this (evil laugh, muwahahaahaha).

oh there are so many things i could say of the bus. there were three specific stereotypes that i had about people who rode the bus. but i no longer believe that:

1. only old people ride the bus. there are people of all ages there. such community. and i like how ALL the old people wear funny hats. see, you can get fashion advice from riding the bus!

2. only poor people ride the bus as i found by the numerous amounts of lululemon, ipods (they are everywhere! how do i not have one?), fancy sunglasses and expensive shoes. i was rather jealous. but i was wearing my cool H&M jacket which more than made up for my lack of ipod. too bad H&M isn't plastered all over my coat.... what am i, in high school here??? please excuse me.

3. people on the bus have guns and other various weapons. yet so far no one on the bus has pulled out their gun. i think have this impression from watching Speed one too many times in grade 8 (i'm slighly wary of elevators too).

it has been three long months since the engine in my car went, and i have to say it has not been the worst situation that i have ever found myself in. i've saved hundreds on gas, parking tickets and plates. i love getting a ride to school and to work. i get to chit chat with my dad or jeff or the lady from work and i don't even think about traffic, something that used to get my shorts in a knot.

AND i get to share exciting things with someone! today dad drove me to school, and there was a contest on C95, and i called in and WE WON! yes, we won "fanfair" tickets to the Junos...not actual tickets to the concert but where we get to meet all the artists or something. apparently you can't buy them, they have to be won. they are EXCLUSIVE. i loovvvve being exclusive. it's so posh. this is the third time in a year that i have won stuff on the radio. but never have i shared the experience with anyone! HA! what luck. and what a team we were! i love radio contests. the question in case you were wondering, was "which canadian artist made her way up through the 90s busking and playing in bars?" well i immediately thought alanis morisette & i called in and it kept ringing and ringing, and i waited and waited...but then when nobody was getting the answer, they added another clue - this artist was voted one of the most likely people to have their own talk show - and then dad said jann arden and i exclaimed OF COURSE. then suddenly i am ON THE RADIO with my absolutely, 100% correct answer and we were all very excited, me, dad, shauna foster and rambling dave, all so excited together. all this excitement. moral of the story: HAD I NOT had a ride today, i would've said alanis morrisette and can you imagine the disappointment?

so dad and i are going to meet all the artists. he is most excited to meet nelly furtado, isn't that funny? he talks about her all the time, i think because he can't remember them all so he picked her to be his favorite! the funniest thing is before i called in, he was saying (as he has said many times) he wants nelly furtado to come sing at elim, and now he can ask her personally! hahahaha. that is so funny, i just called him to tell him that and we had a big laugh.

ANYWAYS, despite the many "goodnesses" of carpooling, becoming more environmental and also more cultural by taking the bus, and saving mega bucks, i do hope to buy a car in May. like my very own, real cool car with air conditioning and a CD player! i have never had a cd player in my car ever before so i tell you, this is exciting to me. it's about time, as i am turning 25 this year. i am getting too old to have never had a cd player in my car. i'm so old fashioned!

i must leave you all. this really was too long of a post but i must say i had a lovely time writing it. i smiled and laughed at myself the entire way through this and after all, isn't that what blogging is all about?

Rant.

i know its g-o-r-g-e-o-u-s (btw, i LOVE Fergie and her "Glamorous" song, it gets me grooving and i pretend i'm a star when i sing along) outside today but i am ANGRY! the receptionist at H&R Block was so rude to me! i must vent.

so my dad brought all my income tax stuff into H&R Block last week and I had to go in today to sign the papers or whatever. please note, i do not understand income taxes very well. i am a little slow in this department. my dad and i have the same discussion every year as to why i don't get more money back and he tells me the same thing, you can't get back more than what you paid. well okay but what about this textbook thing that the Conservies put into place, i thought i was supposed to be getting back $80 for my textbooks? well mr. mikey (the guy my dad did our taxes with at H&R) tries to explain it all to me, but all i hear is lkjadf adfalkdj adlkjfadf alkj k adkjrieewao welkrja awoei awklu, owwwaahyay. understand? yah me neither. whatev.

so i go in this afternoon to sign the papers. first of all the receptionist is rude to the lady in front of me. like totally unjustifiably so (the customer was a walk in and the receptionist let the second walk in go in first, and when the customer called her on it, she throws up her hands in the air and says "i said i'm sorry what else am i supposed to do about it, okay?"). yah, reeeeeeealllllll friendly. lovely customer service.

then i go up and tell her my dad has paid the fees already (which he told me he had, but he realized AFTERWARDS that he hadn't and forgot to tell me). so i'm asking her what my dad paid for then and she gets all rude at ME and says well lets just call mike why don't we. so she calls mike (the guy my dad sat with) and find out daddy didn't pay for me, she says "what did i tell you", and she has the nerve to say, "you have to pay for our services you know". hello i am income tax "slow", not completely business retarded.

then she told me i had to sign everywhere it was highlighted and i wanted so badly to ask her to point out each place for me. that would've been awesome of me. so anyway, at one point i say, "listen, i'm not trying to make you angry here, i'm just having a hard time understanding why my dad insisted that he had paid and you're telling me he didn't, so what did he pay for?" i purposely said that in front of about 3 of her coworkers and several customers hoping to humiliate her. it just made her more mad and increased the mad silence. ha!

anyway it was just a big kerfufle and she had me fuming by her sharp, sarcastic answers and her madly demeaning manner!!! at one point when i said i didn't understand something she says "oh and i would just lovvvvve to explain it to you" and oh if only i had a tape recorder for her tone of voice. agugugughghhghghghghghghghhggh.

i was fuming by the time i left. she made me feel completely stupid. you know when you can totally tell when someone is really angry at you and they're trying to be all nice to cover it up? yah. there was major mother tension in the air.

so like, i work in customer service and i have bad days sometimes but seriously i would never be as rude as she was to anyone. i never make people feel stupid no matter how stupid they may be. and a lot of people are very very stupid.

anyway i got my money back.

and my grad photos. i think my hair looks crappy in it. but at least i'm graduating.

i have night class tonight. I HATE THIS NIGHT CLASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

okay rant, done. i'll cheer up for tomorrow.

p.s. mike at H&R was great. i don't hate H&R Block. its just the receptionist.
