the day of love
now on to better and more important issues (see below post!)
i love valentine's day. obviously i love it because i'm in love. haha.
so every year jeff and i have gone out for valentine's day but this year i wanted to do something different. last weekend we kind of had a "valentine's weekend" because we had dinner at The Keg on Friday (we shared delicious appys of breaded asparagus and snow peas, i had the most amazing steak dinner EVER and it was topped off with a wonderful glass of white wine) and on Saturday we went and saw The Pursuit of Happyness (which i pretty much cried through, such a sad movie). so i wasn't feeling exactly date deprived.
so i decided to make a romantic dinner pour deux. i'm not the most gourmet cook so i kept it kind of simple with chicken fettucine with my homemade vegetable cream cheese alfredo sauce. i even went and bought fresh parsley, and believe me, my mom will be putting parsley in every single meal of hers for the next week as i bought enough for a parsley salad! i needed like, 1/25th of the "bushel" that it came in. i just realized i should've thrown asparagus in my meal. oh well. next year. i have awesome spices from Epicure so those made it extra delicious! i LOOOOOVE my chili lime spice the best. it has a great kick. mmm. anyway. we also had caesar salad and fresh bread. for dessert we had chocolate turtle cheesecake with fresh strawberries, whip cream and chocolate sauce drizzled all over. if that doesn't sound like heaven on a plate than i don't know what does.
the funniest part was that i made it at home for us, as it was a wednesday and my family was away for choir and whatever else. before my mom left, she set the table for jeff and i, complete with table cloth, candles, chocolates and matching red napkins. my mom, she is such a romantic. she can't help herself. so we dimmed the lights and turned on jack johnson for a little atmosphere. it was very movie-ish of us. i've never done dinner like that for us before so it was fun.
oh yes and the best part of all were the GORGEOUS flowers i got from Blossoms. ohhhhh i love them. they are beautiful. i may have to post some pictures.
so anyway, Valentine's Day was another success. we had fun. it was romantic and it was special. isn't that the point of vday? i know its so overcommercialized, etc etc, and i can completely understand why some people get annoyed/sad/mad/etc. over it. but i also think its nice and its so important to take a day and make it special for your loved one. sure there are other days in the year that couples make special for each other which is totally important as well, and we do that too. but there is something about Valentine's Day that is nice.
and i especially like that i'm guarenteed to get gorgeous flowers. jeff really is a romantic underneath. i know he's reading this (especially because of "the challenge"), so Thanks Love!
p.s. side note. out of the 20 people who have already viewed my blog today (and its only 10:30!), look where they're all coming from - Saudi Arabia, 2 from China, 2 from USA, Brazil, South Korea, South Africa, Portugal and Greece! thats crazy! but i think i like it.

O! I am so happy you wrote about your Valentine's. I knew you would. Your supper sounded lovely! Remember when you would make extra cheesy kraft dinner for us during high school? I already knew you would be a great cook back then :-)
Pursuit of Happyness was SUCH a sad movie. but good. i liked it. and i like you.
