Mac or Dell?
i'm buying myself a laptop as a grad gift to myself. i have only needed one for 4 years. i've got my lovely IBM but i find PCs to be rather anti-mobile. i just can't picture myself lugging my computer to night class each week. not that i will have night class anymore starting in THREE WEEKS! woot woot! anyway, still want a laptop and looking for some advice/opinions:
mac or dell? dell or mac? 
hi kristin, i am cute little Apple iBook! look how sweet i would look at your desk. i'm so pretty and girly and have many creative options. i love to do fun things with your photos, videos, and webpages. i am a perfect companion to a young hot chick like yourself on the go as you enter a new career. i'm as clean as they come - never a virus for me! buy me because you and i are meant to be together! never mind that i cost so much! its okay. i'm cute. cute cute cute.

(also nevermind that i don't exactly have a new career. yet.) i must decide if i only like you for your looks. are you as beautiful on the inside as you are on the outside? are you truly worth the extra effort i must put into paying for you? ibook. i think you are to me like izzie is to george. beautiful on the outside. stacked. a supermodel. my best friend. but probably not right for me???
hi kristin i am Inspiration 6400 dual core from Dell. you will love how much hardrive and memory i have for half the price of snobby ibook up there. i am fast, efficient and come with many free features. i am definitely the one for you. just think how professional you will look toting hot little silver me around. and guess what, i am just as skinny as snobbook above - i only weigh 6 lbs. furthermore, "inspiration" is even a better name than "ibook" - it speaks of your future, bright and successful, with me by your side.
hi inspiration 6400, i like you too. you're cheaper and somewhat cute. you have more memory and hardrive and its not that you're ugly. you simply don't have the same "presence" that ibook gives off. i am probably going to buy you, just don't be too jealous of my love affair with apple ibook. i love you for your beautiful inside, as the princess loved the frog. perhaps we just need a chance to get to know each other better.
any opinions (and not about me going to the crazy people place)???
this is the kind of thing i do when i have 2 essays due tomorrow and thus far i have 4 pages. but i always pull through! and with honors at that!

kristin you are too hilarious and frankly i would be saying the same things as you. ibooks are so sleak and clean but that price factor is a huge part
i say splurge and go for the gold er- go for the ibook, after all it's a treat for all those night classes & papers & tests & hours spent earning your degree
i'm all about the dell. i get way too frustrated with macs and the lack of things i'm able to do with them. not to mention that you can't "double click" the mouse, "scroll" using the mouse, or "right click". all which sound pretty trivial but drive me insane when i'm so used to using them. there's other things that i don't like about macs, but i just can't think of them right now. but sit me down in front of a mac for more than five minutes and watch me have a temper tantrum. just my opinion. though my friend has an ibook and loves it. but go for the dell ;)
It's funny, I just had a similar debate with myself involving laptop cases. My Grandpa got a new laptop so I got his old one and so I needed a laptop case. I bought two because I couldn't decide at the store. The first was black and basic and sensible with lots of padding and really everything a laptop case should be. The other one was SO PRETTY! The inside lining was pink and it had pretty handles and even the zippers were pretty!
I took them both around for a few days and everyone agreed that the one was really pretty but just didn't have enough padding and that I should keep the normal one. Boo.
So that's what I did. So I don't know...I LOOOVE the ibooks but I know some people have troubles with them. My sister has a Dell and she loves it. I guess it comes down to which one meets more of your needs and will take you further.
what are the prices for these things./

i talked to the Apple dealer here in saskatoon today. woooh. he made some very excellent points about the extra $$$:
-never have to buy virus software
-generally people keep them 5-7 years as opposed to 3-6 years for others.
i still think i'm going with the dell though. i think.

Nic has a Sony Vaio and a Apple macbook. He HATES the macbook. In fact we are putting it on ebay tonight. If you are use to PC they are ridiculously hard to get accustomed to. Dad however, swears by Dell. He just bought mom and the girls each an Inspiron and they love them.
ps. How much are you looking to get for the IMB? Even though I'm not in the same province as you haha. My Gateway died on my last week.

how exciting. i don't know if i can possibly wait the 7-10 days for it to come! ahhh! this is the best purchase i've made since paying tuition. ha. Rameen, my East Indian sales guy, was very nice and helpful. thanks rameen!
i especially love that i just realized its not called "inspiration" as lovely as that is. it's Inspriron. oh do i crack myself up!!!!

Good for you with the Dell. Macs are waaaaay better for creative things, but if you're writing papers or just doing basic stuff, like checking email, Dell is more user friendly. macs or for the Kristy-annes of this world...!

I decided that I am going to wait and get another laptop. I bought a flat panel monitor, and dad just gave me one of the older desktops that were kicking around our garage.I miss my laptop for those nights when I want to watch tv in bed or something. Thanks though.
