it's me again
i came home from work yesterday and dad asked me if i wanted to go to K-OS and i said well sure if you wanna pay for it, and he did! and then he paid for jenna too. well my goodness dad aren't you in a lovely mood! those are probably my most favorite moods of my dad. i also like when he gets in the lasagna making mood where he goes out and and buys all the special noodles and cheeses for the best lasagna ever. so anyway, K-OS put on a great show. Chad , Bjorn and Rylan were all going too, so they saved us wicked awesome seats right near the front, and Jenn B was there with her posse, and she brought us baking treats to enjoy. and it didn't rain and i had a comfy lawn chair and a warm blanket, so i felt perfect. what a perfect start to summer. this year i have taken in more jazz festival than any other - i also went and saw theresa sokyrka on friday night, and she was just so sweet. but K-OS was truly fun. i'm glad i have a generous dad.
i bought a new cell phone on saturday. i'm so excited about it. call me so that i can hear it ring.
so my rant...
i gave my prof a cheque for $475.00 for tuition fees to go to prague. i handed this cheque to him in April. he decided to cash it last night, 3 months later. WHO DOES THAT?!!!!? he is sure one lucky fellow that i just got paid last night. but frick i am a little ticked that he waited 3 months to cash that cheque. and if you're a smart one thinking "kristin is retarded for not noticing a $475 payment not coming out of her account" well i am a little retarded, i agree. but he is definitely the biggest retarded one in this little situation. i'm pretty sure if someone gave me a cheque for that much money that i would cash it right away. i think that is called being polite. frick.
well, friends...good day.

i'm a plagerizer
actually i'm not because i'm going to give credit where credit is due...
i copied this post from amanda's blog (http://www.angelfire.com/mb2/manda1yn82/blog/)
and i thought it was fun... basically if you comment on my blog, that is leave your name and a little love note to me, i will try to answer the following about each person:
01. I will write something about you.
02. I will then tell what song/movie reminds me of you.
03. I will try to name a single word that best describes you.
04. I'll tell you the most memorable moment I've had with you.
05. I will tell you what animal you remind me of.
06. I'll then tell you something that I've always wondered about you.
07. I'll write something you've taught me.
i hope i do not regret this... ;)

summer fun
i decided today that i truly love the whole blog concept. it's so fun to be a part of people's thoughts, and i enjoy writing about whatever is on my mind. ahhh yes, freedom of speech, what a luxery.
so it's monday morning, another week beginning. sometimes i can hardly believe how fast time goes by. i'm always amazed when summer rolls around. winter in saskatchewan is cold and long ... i'm really not a huge fan of it. but june - september usually makes up for our saskatchewan hardships.
this summer i'm looking forward to a few particulars. like what, you ask?
Kristin's Top Ten Summer Favorites
#1 camping
#2 suntanning and basking in the hot sun
#3 drive-in movies
#4 sunday night at family camp
#5 landscaping Jeff's yard (we just seeded the front lawn so far...i can't wait to watch it grow!)
#6 campfires (this gets it's own number b/c although it falls under the general catagory of camping, it is also an activity unto itself, therefore deserving of separate recognition).
#7 swimming at outdoor pools with jenna and kayden and lynnel of course!
#8 Dairy Queen chocolate chip cookie dough blizzards on a really hot day
#9 Marquis Down - horse races Friday nights - so fun!!! if you want to, you can bet on the horses, and win a pile of money. i usually do it until i lose a total of $5 bucks and then i chicken out.
#10 pulling out the summer wardrobe - no more turtlenecks and jeans - hello tank tops and fun skirts and cute sandles!!!
2 things i am not looking forward to this summer:
-working 8:30 - 5:00, monday to friday
-mosquito bites
but only two because summer is too great to bugger it down with negativities.
this weekend jeff and i did 2 great fun things from the list - #3 and #5. at the drive-in we saw The Longest Yard, with adam sandler and chris rock & various other famous faces thrown in here and there, and also Sahara was playing. i slept through Sahara, but jeff thought it was okay. he was wishing we had brought lynnel to the drive in so that he would have someone to talk to while i was snoring. anyway we played a little game that my silly family plays every once in a while, particularly when jenna is over. it's very easy and it took up all the time while we were waiting for our movie to start. i call it:
"I Like ______ Because..."
it's a good game because you find out all the positives you can think of about a particular situation. we played "I like the drive-in because..." my sister started this game one day at supper. i think it was along the lines of "I like this table because...". yah she's a weird one that girl. but creative. jeff won, i guess he is more creative than i.
as for #5, we did yard work all day saturday, and it was fun.
i'm going for lunch now!

simple things
a girl at work here found a very funny website that i have added to my links. breakupnews.com. it passes the time when i'm done reading everyone's blogs each day!
i just got back from my lunch break. at lunch i got in my car and started to drive down the street. for the first five minutes i had no idea where i felt like going... do i drive home and eat in a hurry but free? do i go to subway? should i eat by myself at earls? i eventually found myself at the lawson heights mall. the mall never fails. for lunch i had a quesadilla from booster juice, a carmael macchiato (i just realized i have no idea how to spell carmeal... caramal?) from starbucks for my tiredness and a refreshing walk through the mall. i also bought some shampoo and conditioner by redeken. i've recently been told that redeken has the best color care shampoo out there, so i thought i would give it a try. i like lawson heights mall because of all the cool stores they have, like twisted goods and peppers and whatnot. i started to look around for a father's day gift today and i got some ideas but i know that dad reads this so i can't give any hints.
okay i know that i said i would get over tv, but "fire me, please" is seriously the funniest show i have seen in a long time, it is ridiculously funny. you all need to watch it for a good laugh. the concept is pretty obvious... two people compete to get fired from a job; the person who gets fired closest to 3:00 pm wins $25,000. oh what a laugh.
alison is here! it is so great to see her. i think we are declaring this evening girls night... if anyone wants to come over, call my cell phone. but you must be a girl. i was thinking we could go somewhere for dessert or something like that. tomorrow evening we are having a few people over as well, a "friends of alison" party. if you are a friend of alison, feel free to come over tomorrow around 7ish, with an appetizer in hand please and thank you.
that machiatto thing is finally kicking in, i'm loving it. it's way better than a nap!
yah i'm pretty sure i'm all blogged out. i'm a little disappointed that tyler is the only one who answered my tough questions on my last post. but thanks tyler for stepping out! maybe my blog is simply too mindless to ask difficult, deep questions. maybe i should just try to stick with what works. simple stuff :)
oh i looked up that word. it's caramel. thanks word document spell check.

I'd die in that interview
Lynnel and I had a very romantic dinner last night. What great company! She's so pretty and so delightful. Jeff should be jealous. Hehe. He called me at about 7:00 and told me I need to come there immediately because he was starving and didn't know what to eat. That made me laugh. I thought he was joking... but when I did get to his house, he still hadn't eaten so I made him a delicious meal. Hamburger Helper. Can't go wrong there!!! Anyway back to me and Lynnel. We looked at all my pictures from Prague, talked about life, love and hmmm whats a good word to put here... freedom, yes freedom fits. We had yummy cocktails, a lovely meal, and finished with a piece of chocolate tort cake, served by a fabulous gay waiter. What more could a girl ask for? Delicious!
Make sure you stop for every stop sign because guess what, the tickets are up to $220. Can you believe that? My dad got stopped yesterday but he got off with a warning. So come to a complete stop people!
This weekend Jenna and I are driving to Edmonton. We are staying in the Mayfield Inn and I think Kristy-Anne is going to come have a sleepover there with us. I haven't been to Edmonton in a really really long time, not since Breakforth in 2003.So I'm making a country CD for the trip, and I have room for about 2 more songs. Any suggestions?
Here's my playlist:
Big & Rich - Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy
Garth Brooks - Callin Baton Rouge
Toby Keith - Should've Been a Cowboy
Brad Paisley - Mud on the Tires
Gretchen Wilson - Redneck Woman
David Lee Murphy - Dirt on the Bottle
Collin Rae - Little Red Rodeo
Rascal Flats - Fast Cars & Freedom
Toby Keith - Whiskey Girl
Jo Dee Messina - My Give a Damn's Busted
Tim McGraw - Fries With That
Garth Brooks - Rodeo
Sugarland - Something More
Keith Urban - Somebody Like You
George Strait - Desperately
Toby Keith - As Good as I Once Was
Kenny Chesney - Anything but Mine
Dixie Chicks - Cowboy Take Me Away
Alan Jackson - Remember When
Keith Urban - Making Memories of Us
Rascal Flats - God Bless the Broken Road
Actually come to think of it, there is no more room for another song because I already have way too many. Man that is one fricken good cd.
So Jeff just spent the week in Regina, where him and his boss were interviewing candidates for a job. Anyway he brought home all the interview questions and he interviewed me and they were so hard! I'm sure I could come up with really good answers if I had time to think about them, but in an interview situation, they would have been extremely difficult. Jeff said that if one of the people asked to either skip a question or if they asked to come back to it, they were pretty much taken off the call back list. Yah brutal. For example,
What was the best and worst decision you made this year? (3 seconds.... DONE like dinner).
How have you raised the bar for yourself and/or the people around you?
What is an example of you dealing with a difference of opinion in the last year, and how did you handle it?
Describe your learning ability. (I was like, can you elaborate on that? And he wrote down "skip" and went to the next q!).
I can't think of any others, all I know is that if that had been my interview, I definitely would've been on the garbage list! They sure were good preparation questions should I ever need to have another job interview someday, which I'm sure I will eventually.
And so I ask all of you, what was your best and worst decision this year? I'd be interested to know. Or answer any of those other questions if you want.
Happy Friday!!

I can't believe my latest good fortune... both Kristy-Anne AND Alison are coming to visit!!! Oh I hope they can be here at the same time and then we could all meet and maybe do "Revolution" for old times sake. Or maybe Mission 3:16 with my favorite Christian contemporary artist Carman. What was that major hit of his? I can't remember it right now...
Did all of you see Carman when he did his Canadian tour? Oh what a concert!!! It was my first concert ever. Oh I was in heaven.
Anyway back to my girls KAG and Ali. Us three, Lynnel and Jenna must spend some quality time together. After Revolution of course. It will be splendid.
I knew this was going to happen... after school finished and I am no longer in a "learning environment"... my brain goes dead and I become a boring blogger. I mean seriously, what do I do all day but a job that I know inside and out? Haha, I totally don't know it inside and out, I have a new question every day... but still, I know most things I need to know. But I miss being in school and learning educational crap!
Let's see, what is interesting about Blue Cross... I found it interesting that an old guy I talked to the other day had $12,000 ears. That is, he had 2 hearing aids, each worth six grand. I bet he has some of the best hearing in all of Saskatchewan.
But back to being done school. I have become brain-dead. I wish that there were some Blue Cross scandels, but hey, this is insurance people, not politics! Alison probably has some fun insider stuff, like the FBI guy who brought down Nixon. Ooh she could make the big bucks!
Lynnel and I are spending quality time together this evening at the Second Ave Grill for supper.
Quality time has been my big thing lately. There is time. And then there is quality time. I love quality time with the people I love. Yes I do.
That is all today!
